About Rebuild

America in the 21st Century has seen an increase in frequency and intensity of natural disasters. Communities are dramatically changed in the matter of a few hours, and its homeowners can be displaced from their homes for years.
Rebuild is an operating system for restoration contractors who specialize in mitigating damage to homes and rebuilding them after disasters hit. Disasters can take many forms. While catastrophic events likely come to mind immediately, smaller-scale damage (such as floods, fires, mold, etc.) can also be a nuisance and displace homeowners.
AI is empowering us to meet this moment. Our initial product enables contractors to generate insurance-compliant estimates in just a few minutes, allowing them to properly get reimbursed for the work they do, get to more jobs, and repair more homes. Previously this process could take weeks and would result in very low margins for the restorer.
This is just our first step towards improving the everyday efficiency of these contractors. Climate change estimates over $210 Billion dollars in damages to property, and Rebuild is tackling the massive opportunity to help restorers move more efficiently and accurately, starting with the estimate.
We raised our Series A in Q3 2026 from Asymmetric Capital Partners with follow-ons from our earlier investors, Gutter Capital and 25Madison.

What you’ll do at Rebuild

We're hiring our first designer. You'll define how our product looks, feels, and works. This is not a role where you'll inherit a style guide and a backlog of tickets.
You'll lead customer discovery, shape what we build, and set the bar for quality at Rebuild.
This is a high-ownership role, where you’ll navigate ambiguity and interface with the entire company, from engineering to customer success.
In a world of AI slop, we sweat the details and want a designer who can lead the way.

You’ll own

End to End Product design: discovery in the field with contractors on active job sites, user journeys, low-fidelity and high-fidelity UI, working closely with engineers through the design-build-launch-iterate cycle of new features.
Customer Research: talk to users, conduct interviews and perform usability testing. Then turn what you learn into insights that drive decision making across the organization.
Own the Craft Bar: raise the standard for what we ship, hold us to our standards, and ensure we have a consistently exceptional experience for our customers whenever a disaster strikes.
Design system: own Rebuild’s design system, and establish the key patterns and approach we take across our platform. We onboard dozens of agents every day. They need to deliver consistent and quality front-end code. You will be responsible for making sure the design system delivers and keeps improving upon it.

About you

What we’re looking for:
  • Every person on the product team is expected to own large ambiguous problems end-to-end, and so will you. You have a proven track record of doing the same at other startups.
  • You can share work you've done at other startups and run us through the entire sequence of how the project came to be, what it achieved, what you learned, what you would do again, and what you would've done differently.
  • End-to-end product design skills from discovery to execution- You turn that research into compelling insights that level up the entire company's understanding of the customer.
  • Desire to be at the intersection of the real world and software, solving problems that help people get their lives back to normal faster.
  • You have strong opinions, loosely held. You can talk us through how that mindset has made you a great team player and increased product velocity.
  • Has spent time exploring and iterating through design concepts, collecting feedback from the team, and identifying engineering constraints and opportunities
Bonus Points:
  • Mobile experience
  • Have written more than 10 lines of code but less than 10,000
  • Using AI tools to build and iterate on prototypes to guide the engineering team and decide what moves into the product

What we offer

  • $160,000 - $215,000 annual salary. Estimated salary range is inclusive of multiple levels and will be narrowed in the interview process.
  • Generous equity compensation
  • Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance
  • Flexible Vacation
  • The Rebuild team prides itself on our office culture, and we have thoughtful programming, fun events, exposure to our investor network, and continuous learning fireside chats on a regular basis
