About the Role

Swap Health is seeking a full-time experienced Medical Biller who is highly proficient in processing insurance claims and billing procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing processes, including submitting claims, following up on unpaid claims, and ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement. While formal education is not required, a certification in medical billing is a plus. This role requires at least one year of hands-on experience in a medical billing environment.

Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare, review, and submit medical claims to insurance companies (electronically or by paper).
• Verify insurance coverage and patient eligibility.
• Follow up on denied or unpaid claims, and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
• Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
• Work closely with providers, office staff, and insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all relevant billing regulations and payer requirements.
• Maintain organized records of all billing activities.
• Assist patients with billing inquiries when necessary.

Requirements

• Minimum one year of experience in medical billing, with a focus on claims processing.
• Strong knowledge of insurance guidelines, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.
• Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding (does not require certification).
• Comfortable working with billing software and electronic medical records (EMR).
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience or comfortability working in a fully remote environment
• Equipment: must have personal laptop or desktop with audio/video functionality
• Reliable internet connection
• Experience with telehealth and/or experience in the medical nutrition space is a plus
