About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior QA Engineer to help drive high-quality testing and reliable releases across our flagship platform, Income Passport. This is a hands-on role focused on test execution and deployment - ideal for someone who takes pride in finding issues before users do and ensuring every ticket that ships meets a high bar for quality.

At SteadyIQ, QA is a first-class function - embedded in engineering, trusted by leadership, and responsible for keeping product velocity aligned with product quality. You won’t just be testing features - you’ll play a key role in ensuring smooth, stable deployments and successful product launches. You’ll collaborate with our QA automation engineers to identify coverage gaps, surface risk, and ensure our growing test suite evolves alongside the product. As our team scales, you’ll be trusted to help reinforce the quality culture that has gotten us this far.

This role reports to the Director of Software Quality. This is an exempt position.

How We Build

As a senior member of the team, you’ll work closely with engineering, data, product, SRE, and DevOps - helping to shape better ways to build and ship software. Our systems span everything from web applications to APIs, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure - and your work will have a direct impact on stability, scalability, and real-world outcomes.

Our tech stack includes React, C#, MySQL, MongoDB, AWS services (Lambda, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, S3) alongside Jenkins. We use Playwright for automated end-to-end testing and Qase for test case management.

What You’ll Do

• Work closely with product, design, data, and engineering to understand requirements, surface risks early, and build repeatable test strategies for new features
• Define and execute test approaches for new features across frontend, backend, and data services
• Develop test plans that prioritize risk, real-world usage, and coverage
• Push the system to its boundaries using edge cases, invalid inputs, and unexpected scenarios to uncover risks and gaps before they impact users
• Design test processes involving mocking services, simulating integrations, or validating end-to-end workflows
• Work with QA automation engineers to surface high-risk areas for test automation
• Support production stability by monitoring post-release behavior, surfacing issues early, and collaborating with engineering and SRE
• Actively contribute to sprint planning and grooming - helping shape testable, stable user stories
• Identify gaps in requirements and flag potential blockers or UX risks early in the development cycle
• Ensure features are developed in alignment with product and design specifications
• Take ownership of QA efforts for features and projects from planning through release, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery in collaboration with product and engineering
• Contribute to documentation and lightweight process improvements
• Track recurring issues and trends in product behavior
• This job may require the employee to access sensitive data. The employee is required to go through all applicable compliance training, as determined necessary by the company.

What You Need / Who You Are

• 5+ years of hands-on QA experience focused on web apps, APIs, data workflows, and backend systems
• Comfortable adapting to and leveraging new QA tooling, frameworks and practices to elevate and scale overall quality standards
• Operates with a high degree of autonomy; capable of identifying test coverage gaps, and driving continuous improvement
• Proven ability to design and execute effective test strategies for complex, data-rich platforms, including data processing and enrichment pipelines

• Experience in testing RESTful APIs for functionality, error handling, and cross-service interactions
• Skilled in functional, exploratory, and data-focused testing - able to navigate ambiguity and surface meaningful insights
• Strong time management skills - able to meet deadlines and support team priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable in a rapidly-evolving environment with shifting priorities and frequent releases
• Communicates risks early, collaborates under pressure, and stays focused on business impact
• Balances attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and execute against broader quality goals
• Continuously looking for ways to improve the plan - not just follow it

Bonus Points

• Experience with AWS, Jenkins, or Datadog
• Exposure to test automation workflows and collaborating with automation engineers

Total Compensation Package

• The base salary range for this position is $95,000 - $125,000.
• This position is eligible for equity.
