The Role:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced EHR Administrator to support the development, optimization, and integration of our Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems—primarily Athena and Epic. This role is critical to the success of our rapidly scaling virtual healthcare environment. As a key cross-functional leader, you will ensure seamless system functionality, improved clinical workflows, and data-driven insights that contribute directly to patient outcomes and long-term revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
EHR Optimization & Integration
- Lead the strategic enhancement and day-to-day administration of EHR systems (Athena and Epic), identifying opportunities for improved workflows, automation, and data capture.Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to integrate third-party applications (e.g., Salesforce, remote monitoring tools) to enhance interoperability and operational efficiency.Translate clinical and operational needs into technical requirements and workflows that maximize value from the EHR platform.
Clinical Documentation & Quality Initiatives
- Optimize charting workflows and templates to support accurate, efficient documentation and improve provider satisfaction.
- Implement and manage macros, smart forms, and decision support tools to streamline provider documentation and improve clinical throughput.
- Align documentation practices with quality metrics (HEDIS, STAR, MIPS, etc.) to demonstrate value to insurers, regulators, and partners.
Revenue Cycle & Insurance Integration
- Work closely with Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) teams to integrate payer contracts, insurance benefit data, and billing rules within the EHR.
- Support accurate coding and risk adjustment through tailored EHR configurations, improving reimbursement and compliance.
Analytics & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and analyze system data to identify trends and opportunities for process and clinical improvements.
- Create and maintain dashboards and reports that provide visibility into operational, clinical, and financial metrics.
Cross-functional Leadership
- Serve as a liaison between clinical, operational, and technical teams to ensure alignment on EHR-related initiatives.
- Drive project timelines, manage budgets, and coordinate communication across departments and with external partners.
Training & Support
- Provide ongoing support and EHR training to clinicians, helping them adopt best practices and maintain documentation compliance.
- Develop and distribute training materials, quick-reference guides, and tip sheets to enhance user engagement.
Additional Duties
- Perform other tasks as needed to ensure smooth and scalable operations across the health platform.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Athenahealth and/or Epic EHR systems, including implementation, optimization, and integration.
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare project management, preferably in a high-growth or tech-enabled environment.
- 3+ years of experience in revenue cycle operations, including risk adjustment, payer integration, and quality metric reporting.
- Strong understanding of healthcare compliance, privacy, and data security standards (HIPAA, CMS guidelines, etc.).
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable plans.
- Proven ability to work independently, prioritize work in a dynamic environment, and influence without authority.
Working Environment:
- Fully remote position; must be comfortable operating in a distributed, fast-paced team using Zoom, Slack, GSuite, and other collaborative platforms.
- Occasional availability for meetings across multiple time zones may be required.
