Who We Are:

FlyteHealth exists to help individuals living with obesity pursue healthier lives through chronic condition support and pharmacotherapy virtually via video conferencing and an engaging smartphone app. We leverage an in-house nationwide clinical care team including physicians, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, and care navigators. We also partner with hospital systems, payers, and PBMs to expand their ability to reach more patients and provide broader obesity care support.

The Role: General Counsel

As the General Counsel at FlyteHealth, you will serve as the company’s legal expert, managing the company’s legal and contractual matters (when applicable leveraging outside counsel) to support the organization’s operations. Collaborating closely with leadership, you will manage legal strategies that align with FlyteHealth’s business’ needs, while safeguarding its operations and reputation. In this role, you will be at the center of ensuring FlyteHealth’s legal foundation is aligned with, federal and state healthcare regulations, and enforcing intellectual property claims to safeguard the company's innovative software creations.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Strategy and Healthcare Regulation:

Design and implement legal strategies that enable FlyteHealth’s growth while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, data privacy laws, and industry best practices.

When applicable, collaborate with external regulatory counsel on complex matters, including OIG, CMS, HIPAA, data security, and healthcare innovation.

Contract Drafting and Negotiation:

Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of diverse agreements, including customer master services agreement, software licensing and channel partnerships, vendor contracts, NDAs, and financing transactions to support FlyteHealth’s operations.

Risk Management:

Proactively identify and manage legal risks, offering actionable recommendations to protect the company’s assets, reputation, and stakeholders.

Corporate Governance:

Provide counsel on corporate governance, ensuring alignment with best practices and supporting leadership in preparing for board communications.

Intellectual Property:

Oversee intellectual property matters, ensuring the protection of FlyteHealth’s innovations, patent filings, trademarks, and other proprietary assets.

Leadership Collaboration:

Act as a strategic partner to the executive team, providing sound legal advice and helping guide key decisions that drive FlyteHealth’s business operations forward.

What Makes You a Great Fit

Expertise and Experience:

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school with active bar membership.
• 8+ years of legal experience in healthcare, technology, or other relevant industries.
• Proven background in contract negotiation, corporate law, and risk management.
• Expertise with OIG, CMS, HIPAA, data privacy regulations, intellectual property, and healthcare regulation frameworks (specifically MSO/PC operating businesses).
