The Role: Compliance Director
The Compliance Director is a key leader within FlyteHealth, responsible for overseeing and enhancing our compliance program, with a focus on regulatory requirements for telehealth, MSO/PC models, and patient privacy. Reporting to senior leadership, this role ensures compliance across our national network of physicians, nurse practitioners, and dietitians while maintaining alignment with federal, state, and local regulations governing digital health services.
As Chair of the Compliance Committee, the Compliance Director will develop and execute strategies to uphold the highest compliance and quality assurance standards, particularly around privacy regulations, Medicare/Medicaid guidelines, and billing integrity. The ideal candidate brings expertise in telehealth regulations, health information privacy, compliance frameworks for multi-state clinical operations, and credentialing and accreditation processes such as NCQA, HITRUST, and licensure requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Compliance Committee and drive the development and execution of the Compliance Program, ensuring regulatory adherence across telehealth and MSO/PC structures.
- Develop annual compliance work plans and risk assessments, identifying key areas of exposure, including government audit risks.
- Implement and oversee policies and procedures to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local healthcare laws, including HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and state-specific telehealth regulations.
- Monitor and audit clinical billing practices, providing insights to improve compliance and performance.
- Develop and administer compliance training programs for FlyteHealth’s clinical and administrative teams, including physicians, NPs, and dietitians.
- Advise on Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer program guidelines, ensuring program integrity and billing compliance.
- Conduct internal audits and investigations related to compliance violations, reporting findings to the Compliance Committee and senior leadership.
- Collaborate with legal counsel on regulatory matters, including telehealth policy changes and evolving digital health compliance landscapes.
- Oversee privacy and security protocols related to patient data, ensuring alignment with HIPAA and other data protection regulations.
- Maintain an effective compliance hotline and incident response process for reporting and investigating potential violations.
- Establish and maintain quality assurance programs for our telehealth clinical network, ensuring high standards of patient care and regulatory adherence.
- Support clinical research and innovation initiatives, ensuring compliance with quality standards in collaboration with FlyteHealth’s research and development teams.
- Oversee credentialing and accreditation processes, ensuring compliance with NCQA standards, HITRUST certification, and state licensure requirements for healthcare providers.
- Ensure adherence to payer credentialing requirements and provider enrollment processes for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurers.
- Maintain compliance with telehealth licensure regulations across multiple states, supporting FlyteHealth’s nationwide clinical network.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of healthcare compliance experience, with a focus on telehealth, MSO/PC structures, and digital health.
- Deep understanding of federal and state healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid compliance, and fraud/waste/abuse programs.
- Experience in multi-state clinical operations and compliance frameworks for digital health services.
- Strong background in healthcare privacy laws and best practices for telehealth security.
- Experience with credentialing and accreditation standards such as NCQA, HITRUST, and provider licensure.
- Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to executive leadership and boards.
- Ability to lead compliance training and internal audits across clinical and administrative teams.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Educational Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Law, or a related field preferred
- Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC, CPCO), Internal Audit (CIA), or Fraud Examination (CFE) preferred.
