Who We Are:

FlyteHealth (https://www.flytehealth.com) helps individuals living with obesity through a comprehensive solution that includes lifestyle management (weight management, hypertension and diabetes) and clinical management (GLP-1 administration). FlyteHealth partners with payers/PBMs, consultants and care navigators to reach employer groups in the private, public and labor space to maximize employee benefits. Our platform connects patients with a nationwide clinical care team—including physicians, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, and care navigators—delivering personalized, virtual-first treatment that improves long-term health outcomes.

The Role

As Director of Actuarial Services, you will be responsible for leading the actuarial function, guiding financial modeling, and supporting strategic decision-making related to employer-sponsored healthcare benefits and cost management. Reporting to the CEO, you will oversee forecasting, contract reconciliations, and financial risk analysis, ensuring alignment with FlyteHealth’s mission to drive sustainable, patient-centric obesity care. This is a highly visible role that requires collaboration with the Executive Team, Board, cross-functional teams, and external employer and health system partners.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Forecasting & Actuarial Leadership

  • Develop and maintain cost projections and savings forecasts related to employer-sponsored healthcare benefits.
  • Provide guidance on performance forecast credibility and revenue realization for employer clients.
  • Lead financial reconciliation processes for employer-based agreements, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Risk Analysis & Strategic Insights

  • Identify and evaluate areas of potential cost inefficiencies, working alongside clinical and operational teams to uncover root causes and drive improvements.
  • Quantify financial and risk trade-offs in different employer benefit structures, providing key insights to executive leadership.
  • Support the development of financial models linking FlyteHealth’s clinical and operational activities to financial outcomes.
  • Understand and implement reporting methodologies affiliated with actuarial science, including cost-benefit analyses related to medication claims and medical care claims.

Research & Analytics

  • Assist internal and external resources in research studies conducted by FlyteHealth and its employer and health system partners.
  • Develop actuarial analyses to support innovative obesity care models and improve financial sustainability.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build and mentor an actuarial team, fostering a culture of analytical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Ensure the team’s work aligns with FlyteHealth’s broader strategic objectives and business needs.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience & Expertise

  • 5+ years of actuarial experience in healthcare, with a focus on employer-sponsored benefits, medical economics (pharmacy and medical claims), and commercial payer plans.
  • ASA or FSA designation required.
  • Strong understanding of employer healthcare data, claims analysis, and payer-provider financial arrangements.
  • Experience with reserving and forecasting performance under employer-sponsored health plans.

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Proficiency in SQL, SAS, Python, R, or other analytical tools for healthcare claims data analysis.
  • Expertise in Excel financial modeling to evaluate cost-of-care impacts of clinical interventions.
  • Familiarity with BI tools like Looker, Tableau, or QlikSense.

Leadership & Communication

  • Proven ability to translate complex actuarial concepts into strategic insights for executive audiences.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly in working with data, clinical, and finance teams.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members and fostering professional development.
