Genies is looking for an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer to help contribute to the current and future growth of our technology platform. Seated in our Bay Area office (San Mateo) or Los Angeles HQ and reporting to the Director of Engineering, this Senior Site Reliability Engineer will play a vital role in solving complex technical challenges that Genies backend services encounter while we scale and grow our product suite, including Genies Party, Developer Kit, Trait System, and virtual experiences.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience with AWS infrastructure and is familiar with Terraform, Kubernetes, Github Actions, Datadog. They enjoy architecting and deploying scalable infrastructure and working on eliminating developer pain points and bottlenecks. Partnership and collaboration are areas they embrace; specifically working with other Site Reliability Engineers, Backend Engineers and Pipeline Engineers to deliver scalable, efficient and reliable infrastructure powering Genies Avatar and products.
What You’ll be Doing:
- Automate, test, and deploy well-designed infrastructure as code, and services at scale
- Manage AWS services to host infrastructure for frontend, backend, web, and unity engineers to use and build on
- Monitor infrastructure and applications using metrics, logs, dashboards and alarms
- Profile and optimize for load, latency, reliability, availability, fault tolerance, and observability
- Apply best practices in all aspects of service availability including security, testability, release management, live ops
- Collaborate with team members on architectural designs and code reviews
- Partner cross functionally with all levels of the organization
- Provide emergency response either by being on-call or by reacting to symptoms according to monitoring and escalation when needed
- Perform and run blameless RCAs on incidents and outages to prevent future service incidents
- Measure the risk of introduced features to plan ahead and improve the infrastructure.
What You Should Have:
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or 5+ years professional experience as a reliability, systems, devops, infrastructure, or platform engineer
- Proficiency in Python and/or Golang
- Solid foundation in systems engineering and live operations
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code with Terraform
- Expert knowledge of Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience supporting designing and working with Rest APIs, distributed NoSQL and relational databases, caching systems, event-driven and multi-tier architectures
- Expertise in applying software patterns and Microservices patterns
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices and cost-effective cloud architecture
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD with AWS Codepipeline, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar
- Self-starter, analytical, creative, highly motivated with an innovative spirit
- Excellent communication skills

The actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including: professional background, training, transferable skills, work experience, education, location, business and product needs, and market demand. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time employees may also be eligible for equity compensation, in addition to a robust health, wellness, and benefits package.
Starting Salary Range: $160,000 to $190,000
